Curriculum Overview

At Three Hearts, our curriculum is designed to support the diverse needs of adults with developmental disabilities by fostering practical, conceptual, and social skills essential for independent living, employment, and meaningful community engagement. Rooted in the Adaptive Behavior/Functioning Assessment, our curriculum aligns with industry best practices to ensure participants receive personalized instruction tailored to their unique strengths and goals.

Our structured curriculum is built upon three core domains:

  • Focuses on daily living tasks, including personal care, job responsibilities, financial management, and task organization.

  • Enhances cognitive abilities such as memory, communication, problem-solving, and functional academics.

  • Develops interpersonal relationships, social awareness, empathy, and the ability to form and maintain connections.

Each domain is broken down into five skill types, which are further categorized into specific skill subjects and lesson topics. Every lesson topic includes three levels of instruction—high, medium, and low ability—to accommodate different learning needs. This approach ensures that all participants receive instruction that aligns with their individual goals outlined in their Support Plan and Individualized Program Plan.

A curriculum matrix is used to inventory all activities and lesson plans, ensuring consistency across classrooms while allowing for individualized adaptations. A designated managerial-level staff member oversees lesson planning and assignments, ensuring a seamless and structured approach to learning. Additionally, school-wide themes are integrated into lessons, reinforced with visual messaging and posters throughout the program term.

At Three Hearts ADT, we believe that education should be inclusive, structured, and adaptable, empowering every participant to reach their fullest potential in a supportive and engaging environment.
